Jenna Genereaux, LMSW

About the Therapist/ Practice Owner

 Jenna graduated from Ferris State University  with a Master of Social Work degree in August 2016. She has 7 years of clinical counseling experience, 5 of which are post grad . She is fully licensed in the state of Michigan. Jenna opened Illuminate My Life Counseling in August 2017.  Jenna is  also a CSTIP (Certified Sex Therapy Informed Professional).


Jenna  has been touched by many events including facing the foster care system as both a child and foster parent. These experiences have lead her towards her professional interests in clinical therapy. Jenna has training in TF-CBT through her internship experience with the Children's Advocacy Center.  She has also taken trainings in reasoning, ethics, assessment and pain managements, and human trafficking.

Jenna  also developed an educational focus on family dynamics and began working with a local middle school to gain experience. Jenna has experience working with those facing several barriers such as Depression, Anxiety, Domestic violence, Trauma, and more. She has worked with population's from 5-102 years old.

For fun, Jenna enjoys spending time with her husband and children. She has a weightlifting routine and admits to feeling best when she is "moving her body". She also enjoys time at the beach with her favorite season being summer!

Alisha Shannon

Meet our Biller/ Assistant/ Secretary!

Alisha has been trained to work with insurance companies, provide knowledge about billing and to tackle any extra task we throw as her! If you have any questions in regards to your co-pay, deductible or any bills you are responsible for in relation to your therapy sessions, Alisha is the one to contact!


Alisha is a mother, daughter, friend and wife. She enjoys spending time with her family.  Alisha also enjoys being involved in the community! She has three dogs, two of which are St Bernard's.  She is always open to learning new things about her job.

Alisha works to verify client insurance, communicate client payments,  submits claims and ensures that the company is being paid so that IMLC can continue to support their clients and staff.

Out of Network Services: Clients are responsible for paying up front. Alisha will provide client with a "super-bill"  to turn into their insurance company for reimbursement (this does not guarantee reimbursement). Clients are encouraged to reach out to their insurance representative to ask about reimbursement for out of network services. 


Kacie Berthelot, LLMSW

About the Therapist

Kacie obtained her Bachelor of Social Work from Saginaw Valley State University and her Masters in clinical Social Work degree from Ferris State University. Kacie has spent 10+ years navigating the mental health field and foster care system while advocating for others.  Most recently, Kacie spent three years facilitating clinical therapy in practice.


Kacie is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) trained and has large experience work with trauma, TBI (traumatic brain injury), anxiety and depression as well as an array of other mental health disorders. Kacie enjoys helping individuals, couples, and small groups of all ages, however, her focus is in working with the pre-teen and teenage population (10 – 17 years). 


Kacie loves photography and getting outside to spend time in nature whenever given the chance! She finds benefit in bringing these enjoyments into her sessions as well by doing walk-and-talk sessions outside (when weather permits). Kacie’s passion in showing others it is possible (and strategies) to strengthen and improve even the darkest areas of ones life leads her to practicing from a trauma-informed and positive/motivational therapeutic approach while focusing on each clients individuals needs.

Tanya LaMont, LPC

About the Therapist

 Tanya graduated from the University of Michigan in 1993 with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Psychology. From there she went on to work with children and adults with developmental delays and disabilities. She enjoyed working with all ages of people, but especially interacting with children. By now her own children added extra inspiration for her desire to understand and help children grow to be their best selves in a healthy, accepting way.

Tanya graduated from Western Michigan University with a Master’s in Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology. Her specialty is in School Counseling, continuing her emphasis on children. Since then she has taken more education classes including trauma-informed counseling approaches and challenges with children and families. 

Through her professional and personal journey so far she has experienced many developmental issues like parenting, mothering a special needs child, death of loved ones, loss and grieving, and single motherhood.

Tanya’s passion for life involves her three amazing children she feels so inspired and blessed to be able to care for and love. She is drawn to the outdoors with activities like walking her fur baby, hiking, swimming, gardening and landscaping. Inside she enjoys cooking, get-togethers, reading, and volunteering in the community and church.

 She has an eclectic approach to counseling with the client first and foremost in mind. While looking at the client through an appropriate developmental lens, she also considers important influential factors for her client like family dynamics.

Marisa Topp- Behrmann

About the Therapist

Marisa holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Business from Davenport University and a Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Ferris State University, graduating with Highest Distinction. She is Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)–Informed and integrates mindfulness skills with cognitive approaches to support clients experiencing chronic stress, anxiety, depressive thought patterns, and dysphoric moods. Her work centers on helping clients build awareness, regulate emotions, and create space for conscious, intentional healing.

Marisa also brings extensive experience in conflict resolution through her work as a mediator for marriage, family, and civil court matters. This background strengthens her ability to guide clients through communication challenges, relational tension, and emotionally charged decision-making.


Outside the therapy room, Marisa is an avid hot yoga enthusiast, Petoskey stone hunter, and lifelong water lover. She enjoys exploring nutritional science, eastern philosophy, art, and international films—interests that inspire her holistic view of wellbeing.

Amy

About the Therapy intern

Amy is a graduate student at Spring Arbor University, currently pursuing her degree in social work. She brings a compassionate, trauma-informed lens to her work, helping clients navigate anxiety, trauma, grief, life transitions, and everyday challenges.


As a certified yoga therapist, holistic child therapist, holistic sex therapist and ADHD coach, Amy is experienced in integrating mind-body practices with practical, strengths-based strategies. She believes in a client-led approach—meeting individuals where they are, honoring their pace, and empowering them to uncover their natural resilience and clarity. 


Outside the therapy space, Amy enjoys distance running, practicing yoga, and spending time with her dog. These grounding routines reflect the holistic wellness principles she encourages in her work with clients.

Jasmine, LLMSW

About the Therapist

Jasmine obtained her Bachelor Degree in Social Work from University of Michigan-Flint and

Master in Clinical Social Work degree from Wayne State University. Jasmine has spent the past

5 years working within the mental health field and substance abuse addiction working with

adults, Teens and adolescents. Jasmine therapeutic approaches are (CBT) Cognitive

Behavioral Therapy, (MI) Motivational Interviewing. Jasmine enjoys working helping individuals,

families and Teens and small groups of all ages.


Jasmine loves working on her health and wellness, she has a morning routine that starts bright

and early at 6 am. She finds keeping a consistent fitness schedule keeps her balanced and

energized for the day. Jasmine enjoys Meal -prepping all fruits and vegetables a week in

advance to continue to stay in that calorie deficit. Jasmine finds it very beneficial to keep a

notepad and pen nearby to write out her thoughts and emotions so that it does not interrupt her

daily work and activities. Jasmine has a passion for helping others navigate and overcome their

trauma through (Copings skills and other Strategies).

Sarah, LLPC

About the Therapist

About the Therapist

Sarah has earned a Bachelor of Psychology from Central Michigan University. She then went on to work with Northwest Education Services in Traverse City, Michigan. Sarah worked in the Adult Community Experience Program as a teacher assistant, substitute teacher, and job coach. This program serves students ages 18-26 with disabilities and supports the students in learning life skills. This work experience expanded Sarah's knowledge of different disabilities and how to approach each client as an individual. 

Sarah then went on to earn a Master's in School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Michigan University. After working as a school counselor for 3.5 years, she is ready to start working on her Limited License Professional Counseling hours at IMLC, while still working as a school counselor. Sarah's speciality is working with clients aged 5 - 25 years old. Since working as a high school counselor, she understands how the teen brain works and how to best communicate with young adults. She also works well with clients who are diagnosed with autism or learning disabilities, from her experience at Northwest Ed and in the school system. 

A few of Sarah's passions are photography, rock hunting, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She is also a big fan of getting outdoors and into nature as much as possible. Sarah utilizes the Boardman Trail to have walk and talks with her clients (if able and if weather permits).

Madison, LLMSW

About the Therapist

Madison attended the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, Indiana where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in social work. She went on to get her master’s degree in social work from Indiana Wesleyan University. While getting her master’s degree Madi worked as a student clinician in a facility that focused on the practice of mindfulness and DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy). After graduating Madi started her career by providing ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapy for children with autism. She then transitioned into medical social work in 2019 and began working as a Hospice social worker. 

Through Madi’s years working in Hospice she found a passion for working with clients around grief and loss. She was a foster parent and adopted from the foster system, so additionally she feels passionate about supporting families through trials, tribulations and of course joys that come with fostering and adoption. Madi is a mom to children with both mental and physical disabilities which also leads her to wanting to support parents walking similar paths. With Madi’s positive outlook on life she is looking forward to serving a wide range of clients while focusing on a strength-based perspective with individuals.

Madi enjoys spending her free time with her 4 kids, husband and many pets. She and her family enjoy anything to do with the outdoors including hiking, swimming and camping. She and her family enjoy music, attending concerts and taking yearly trips to Siesta Key, Florida and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
