Traverse City, MI- November 3, 2017(Record Eagle)- Illuminate My Life Counseling is a new practice opening in the Traverse City area with a focus on not only Psychotherapy, but also Life Coaching. This focus was established through the increasing need of mental health services in the Grand Traverse Area.
Jenna Genereaux, Social Worker and psychotherapist at Illuminate My Life counseling states, “As mental health continues to become more and more prominent in today’s society, it is important to realize the lack of services and resources available for individuals in need of extra support are limited. Agencies tend to have specific focuses such as severe mental illness (SMI) when it comes to mental health. It is important to acknowledge the need for services for those that don’t necessarily have diagnoses, or meet the criteria for SMI. Some individuals just need support with coping in everyday life and helping to define goals. Illuminate My Life Counseling aims service both those who face SMI and those that are struggling in life and don’t meet the criteria for Mental Illness.”
Illuminate My Life Counseling will continue to work with local doctors, agencies and resources to make the importance of different levels of mental health known. Jenna has a Master’s degree in social work through Ferris State University, and experience working with a diverse range of individuals. Jenna states, “I will continue to strive to make an impact in the lives of individuals, families and couples. I want people to know that counseling is not just for those with a Mental Illness diagnosis. It can be helpful in so many more ways.”
